Lennar Introduces PowerSmart Homes to Save You Green
Homebuilder Starts Rollout of Certified Energy Efficient Homes in Minnesota
Minneapolis, MN, March 04, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Lennar (NYSE: LEN), one of the nation’s leading homebuilders, announces the launch of its energy efficient PowerSmartSM Homes introducing its certified green homes initiative in its Minnesota region.
In keeping with the homebuilder’s well-known “Everything You Want. Everything You Need.” philosophy of simply including the most highly desired features and upgrades as standard at no additional cost to the homebuyer, Lennar’s PowerSmartSM Homes will now also provide the homebuyer with a certified green energy efficient home at no added cost as well. In fact, Lennar’s PowerSmartSM Homes are designed to save the average family up to 40 percent on their energy consumption.
Lennar PowerSmartSM Homes in Minnesota will receive both ENERGY STAR® for Homes certification and Environments For Living® Certified Green certification. In order for homes to receive these certifications, the builder must meet stringent requirements that surpass what is required under current conventional builder codes.
Certified homes offer more efficient windows, lighting, appliances, insulation and heating and cooling systems. Homebuyers will experience a noticeable difference in energy efficiency, durability, indoor environmental quality and water efficiency.
Moving forward, the goal is for all new homes built in this region to automatically be Lennar PowerSmartSM certified green homes.
“We are confident our PowerSmartSM Homes initiative will establish us as the leader in green residential building,” said Bill Burgess, President of Lennar’s Minnesota Region. “There’s no better way to achieve this credibility than by obtaining third-party verification through these certifications that show our PowerSmartSM homes are truly meeting the highest standard when it comes to green energy efficient homes and providing the most savings to our homebuyers.”
All Lennar PowerSmartSM Homes come with a Department of Energy - EnergySmart Home Scale Rating to show homebuyers the efficiency of their new home and the savings they can expect to see on their electric bill.
“Research continues to show that prospective buyers are eco-conscious and truly embrace energy efficient products even in this current economic climate,” explains Burgess. “Now more than ever prospective buyers are even more concerned with escalating costs and Lennar’s PowerSmartSM Homes make going green available at no additional cost or higher home price point to the buyer. PowerSmartSM provides the opportunity to live in a certified green home that is not just better for the environment, but a better home that can actually save a buyer money through energy saving features that can add up to quite a lot over time.”
Lennar is one of the nation’s leading homebuilders with more than 55 years of experience building homes and communities all across the country. Lennar offers a variety of homes to meet any prospective homebuyer’s unique homeownership needs.
