Tropical Seas purchased Native Tan in January 2008, and completed the transaction this January. The brand, which originally debuted in 1962 in Daytona Beach, Fla., was once available in nearly every major retail chain in the United States. In recent years, however, distribution and marketing support had suffered, and the brand was floundering.

The new and improved Native Tan formula is now 80-minute waterproof and provides UVA-UVB broad-spectrum protection. It meets all FDA regulations and manufacturing guidelines. Wholesale buyers have likewise been impressed with the product line’s updated packaging, which includes 5.1 fl. oz. squeezable tubes.
The U.S. military has outfitted its field kits with Native Tan SPF 15 sunscreens for nearly a decade.
