Riverwalk Trust Names Cindi Hutchinson President and CEO

Fort Lauderdale, FL, March 06, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Riverwalk Trust Board Chairman Tom Vogel today announced that the organization has named longtime Fort Lauderdale civic leader Cindi Hutchinson as its president and chief executive officer.

Hutchinson, a Fort Lauderdale city commissioner from 2000 to 2009, will lead the not-for-profit organization’s initiatives to bring life to the Riverwalk Park as the vibrant, sustainable heart of Downtown Fort Lauderdale, Vogel said.

“Cindi brings us a rare combination of strong managerial skills, proven ability to lead change – and a lifelong passion for helping Fort Lauderdale preserve its heritage while achieving its incredible potential,” said Vogel. “As a city commissioner, she partnered with the Riverwalk Trust to help realize the vision of establishing Riverwalk Park as downtown’s centerpiece. Now, Cindi will help us take that vision forward by partnering with a host of organizations to breathe life into the Park and enhance the downtown.”

In 2010, Hutchinson and her staff will focus on key Riverwalk Trust goals such as activating the Riverwalk Park with programs that draw people from throughout Broward County, according to Vogel. Through an umbrella event agreement recently approved by the City, Riverwalk Trust will work with groups citywide to coordinate a schedule of ongoing activities for the public to enjoy at Riverwalk Park. She will also guide and manage the Riverwalk Park’s role in the city’s upcoming Centennial celebration.

Under her leadership, the Trust will build on its solid financial base, Vogel said, through initiatives like the GClub at Riverwalk Trust and by seeking more grant funding to improve the Riverwalk Park and the downtown community. She will also be responsible for expanding the Trust’s programs including the Tree Harmony replanting initiative and the Light Up Lauderdale annual downtown promenade of holiday lights, plus building membership and overseeing Go Riverwalk, the Trust’s monthly city magazine.

A small business owner for most of her career, Fort Lauderdale native Hutchinson has a long track record of civic leadership. She served as the City’s vice mayor in 2002 and 2006. Honored as Downtowner of the Year (2007), and as a Broward County Pioneer (2009), she is Fort Lauderdale Centennial Committee event chairman. She has served as a director of the Broward League of Cities and the Broward County Land Preservation Advisory Board. She was vice president of the Downtown Fort Lauderdale Transportation Management Association and served as president of Edgewood Civic Association for 11 years.

The Riverwalk Trust’s mission is to be the catalyst in building and nurturing Riverwalk as a vibrant community connected by the New River. For information on the Riverwalk Trust’s programs and initiatives, visit www.goriverwalk.com or call 954-468-1541.
