Effective Treatments Help to Decrease Cancer Mortality Rate

An upcoming conference on Epigenetic Cancer Therapy will bring scientists together to discuss research that targets epigenetic processes for cancer therapy.

Monrovia, CA, November 07, 2006 --(PR.com)-- The World Health Organization estimates that by 2020 cancer rates will double affecting 15 million people worldwide. However, a new report from the nation's leading cancer organizations found that death rates in America decreased for 11 of the 15 most common cancers in men and for 10 of the 15 most common cancers in women. The report names more effective treatments as one of the factors for the decline.

Continued success in lowering the cancer mortality rate will depend on maintaining and enhancing these efforts. An upcoming conference on Epigenetic Cancer Therapy will bring scientists together to discuss research that targets epigenetic processes for cancer therapy. Speakers from leading research organizations including Johns Hopkins University, Harvard Medical School, The Ohio State University, The German Cancer Center, the National Cancer Institute and M.D. Anderson Cancer Center will be among the distinguished panel of speakers at this event.

Some of the topics to be examined are DNA Methylation and Cancer, Preclinical and Clinical Developments of DNA Methyl-transferase Inhibitors, DNA Methylation as a Diagnostic Tool in Cancer and Chromatin Modification Remodeling.

Epigenetic Cancer Therapy is a part of the 2nd Modern Drug Discovery & Development Summit (M3D 2006). The Summit will take place December 4-6, 2006 at the Pennsylvania Convention Center. Over 250 speakers will participate in 11 concurrent conferences. For more information, visit www.gtcbio.com
