Eugene A. Ludwig, Founder, Chairman, and Chief Executive Officer of Promontory Financial Group and former U.S. Comptroller of the Currency, to Keynote GoldenNetworking.com's Banking Leaders Forum 2010 in Washington DC
New York, NY, March 10, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Eugene A. Ludwig, Founder, Chairman, and Chief Executive Officer of Promontory Financial Group, the premier consulting firm for financial companies, and former U.S. Comptroller of the Currency, will keynote GoldenNetworking.com's Banking Leaders Forum 2010, "Discerning the New Industry Landscape", (http://www.bankingleadersforum.com), on March 25th, Washington DC, sponsored by DLA Piper and Promontory Financial Group. GoldenNetworking.com's Banking Leaders Forum 2010, "Discerning the New Industry Landscape", will provide bank chairmen, directors, chief executives officers, chief risk officers, legal counsels, consultants and academics the most comprehensive overview of the upcoming regulatory landscape for the financial services industry.
Keynote Speaker, Honorable Eugene A. Ludwig, established Promontory Financial Group in 2000, and has guided its growth into a global company with 11 offices on four continents. As the premier consultant in his field, Mr. Ludwig has been a trusted adviser to financial executives and government officials through every phase of the financial crisis, with a steady focus on the human, business, and economic costs of both inaction and over-reaction. As a former U.S. Comptroller of the Currency, Mr. Ludwig is thoroughly attuned to the issues facing government officials as they reckon with revamping the regulatory framework to withstand future shocks, while allowing "free enterprise" and "finance" to once again become synonymous.
Before founding Promontory, Mr. Ludwig was Vice Chairman and Chief Control Officer of Bankers Trust New York Corp. He was instrumental in steering the firm through its landmark merger with Deutsche Bank. As U.S. Comptroller of the Currency from 1993 to 1998, Mr. Ludwig served as the Clinton Administration's point person on the policy response to the credit crunch of the early 1990s. He fashioned an 11-point plan that was instrumental in ending the credit crunch and helping banks begin to lend again and fulfill their role of supporting the economy.
While he was Comptroller, Mr. Ludwig served as Chairman of the Federal Financial Institutions Examination Council (FFIEC), a member of the Basel Committee on International Bank Supervision, a Director of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC), and Chairman of the Neighborhood Reinvestment Corporation. He is also well known as a powerful champion and reformer of the Community Reinvestment Act, the cornerstone of federal strategy to harness the economic power of banks in strengthening communities. Prior to becoming Comptroller, Mr. Ludwig was a partner in the law firm of Covington & Burling, specializing in banking law.
As CEO of Promontory, Mr. Ludwig had been writing and speaking regularly about the breakdown of credit discipline and emerging problems with subprime mortgages for more than two years before the extent of the troubles became widely acknowledged in 2008. Notably, he co-authored (with Paul Volcker and Nicholas Brady) a watershed Wall Street Journal op-ed in September 2008 that fundamentally altered the tone of the debate over what was then called "the subprime crisis." Mr. Ludwig is sought after by the media as an interpreter of news events and has been quoted by virtually every major new organization, including the BBC, CNBC, PBS, The New York Times and The Financial Times.
