New Designer Jewellery by Abakus and Assad Mounser at Kabiri London

Kabiri is the first store in Europe to pick up jewellery pieces by Abakus and Assad Mounser. This one will be available just at Kabiri’s concession in Selfridges, London.

London, United Kingdom, April 01, 2010 --(PR.com)-- New to Kabiri this season, Abakus is already getting well-known in the US. The jewellery designer behind Abakus is Minnesota-raised Marsha Chun-Matsubara, a fashion graduate from Parsons with experience at Comme des Garcons and Fendi. The wild but unfussy jewellery collection, ‘A Dark Side of Pale’ is visually appealing but also wearable. Designer cuffs & fashion necklaces rework preconceived notions of pearls creating a modern collection.

Abacus cuffs incorporate elements of lux hand-made Objet d'Art into everyday life. They are outstanding accessories to be worn with confidence and suggest the intrinsic value design holds. Their opulent design reveals the detailed craftmanship. Through a unique point-of-view Abakus creates design synergies, surprising with bold and edgy jewellery pieces.

The other new jewellery designer now available in the UK exclusively at Kabiri’s concession jewellery shop in Selfridges, London, is Assad Mounser, named as one of Italian Vogue’s ‘New Design Talent’.

Kabiri was invited by Selfridges to open a concession in late 2008. Since then, Kabiri has been a popular feature in the jewellery room sitting alongside other established London jewellers offering the Selfridges customer a taste of Kabiri’s signature style. Every season sees full collections selling out, from the minimal to the experimental.

This season, Kabiri has taken the step to launch designers in the UK exclusively at their Selfridges concession. The first designer to have this honour is Assad Mounser, who has designed a collection inspired by the flamboyant glam rock culture. Details are meant to capture the freedom of this era while focusing on a futuristic, other-worldly and modern look. Materials such as agate slices, amethyst chunks, and bold almost neon polished stones are combined with silver punk rock spikes, as well as layers of chain and crystal to bring forth a silhouette that feels like the prize possession of a space warrior.

Amanda Assad Mounser worked in the fashion industry for Moschino and Alejandro Ingelmo before launching her own jewellery collection. Previously only available in the United States and Japan, Kabiri is her first stockist within Europe.
