Zeus to Support Fundraising for Sport Relief
Award-winning traffic management software will help the Sport Relief website process millions of pounds.
Cambridge, United Kingdom, March 11, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Zeus Technology, the only pure software-based application traffic management company, today announces it will support the Sport Relief 2010 website helping to ensure one of the world’s busiest sites is fast and consistently available.
With thousands of transactions every hour, fast response times and maximum uptime is key to raising millions of pounds worth of donations to help those in need in the UK and across the world’s poorest countries. The Zeus Traffic Manager running on VMware virtual infrastructure will form a key part of Sport Relief’s IT infrastructure, to support the delivery of rich media content, online donations and call centre team applications. The solution will measure the website’s performance in real-time, to ensure it is highly available during peak periods throughout the Sport Relief Weekend from Friday 19th to Sunday 21st March.
Sport Relief’s web infrastructure is hosted by Carrenza and in addition to the technology donated by Zeus, uses Cisco, 3PAR, HP, Oracle, VMware, PayPal and RBS WorldPay to support the transactions made online.
Charlotte Melén, Web Technology Manager, Sport Relief, explains, “The Sport Relief Weekend is taking place from Friday 19th March to Sunday 21st March 2010 and it’ll be three whole days of energy, entertainment and events for everyone to enjoy. From the Friday of fundraising fun, right through to the Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Mile on Sunday, it promises to be a brilliant weekend. Zeus will enable us to accelerate the content delivery on our website and process donations in seconds regardless of how heavy the load is. The solution will allow us to do this by caching content away from the database servers to reduce the amount going into the web server and tap into the cloud for extra computing power when we need it.”
Paul Brennan, CEO, Zeus Technology, says, “Comic Relief is a fantastic charity and we are so pleased to be supporting the Sport Relief campaign this year. The Sport Relief site has been receiving more unique visitors each day and so we hope the event will attract an even greater volume of online traffic than in 2008. Our software will mean the team at Sport Relief can concentrate on exceeding its fundraising targets, without worrying about whether its website can cope with a rise in demand for online donations. We wish the team every success.”
