Perle Systems Launches Ethernet to Fiber Media Converters
Ethernet to Fiber converters allow companies to extend the distance of their network by enabling connections of Ethernet based equipment over a fiber optic link.
Nashville, TN, March 12, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Perle is pleased to announce a new range of Ethernet to Fiber Media Converters, enabling customers to add the benefits of fiber to their UTP copper-based network.
Copper-based Ethernet connections are limited to a data transmission distance of only 100 meters when using unshielded twisted pair (UTP) cable. By using an Ethernet to fiber converter, fiber optic cabling can be used to extend this link up to 80Km.
An Ethernet to Fiber Media Converter can also be used where there is high level of electromagnetic interference (EMI). This is a common phenomenon found in industrial plants. EMI can cause corruption of data over copper-based Ethernet links. Data transmitted over fiber optic cable, however, is completely immune to this type of noise. An Ethernet to Fiber Converter therefore enables companies to inter-connect copper-Ethernet devices over fiber ensuring optimal data transmission across the plant floor.
“Since 1976 Perle has been providing customers around the world with cost-effective and reliable network connectivity solutions.” said Joe Perle, CEO of Perle Systems. “Designing top quality media converters is a logical next step for us as fiber optic infrastructure installations expand throughout the world.”
Perle continues, “We understand the challenges of Fiber conversion projects. Companies want to take advantage of fiber, without the cost of replacing their existing copper base devices and cabling. Media Converters are the single best option to make this happen.”
Using Media Converters, facilities can be connected over public or privately owned fiber optic cable up to 80 km away and they don’t need to reinvest in new fiber base switches, routers and firewalls – which are generally 3 times more expensive than their copper based counterparts.
Perle’s initial offering includes an extensive choice of full-featured Ethernet to Fiber Media Converter solutions. Using only high-end components Perle guarantees, with a Lifetime Warranty, user satisfaction. And, all Perle Media converters have an on-board microcontroller which deals with error detection and recovery.
