Libby Gill Guests on Good Morning Texas on WFAA
Libby Gill, CEO of Libby Gill & Company and founder of online coaching community MyAccountabilityClub.com, appeared on Good Morning Texas on Thursday, March 11th, 2010. The program aired from 9-10 am CST throughout Texas.
Los Angeles, CA, March 12, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Gill, a former Hollywood studio executive, is now an executive coach, brand strategist and bestselling author. She will discuss strategies for staying accountable to success, a key feature of her new bestselling book You Unstuck: Mastering the New Rules of Risk-taking in Work and Life. On its release, You Unstuck immediately took a top ten spot on Amazon.com in three different categories - Job Hunting and Careers, Success, and Health and Personal Development.
According to Gill, “It’s not enough to have a vision of success, you’ve got to train your brain into the habit of accountability by breaking down goals into specific and measurable milestones.”
Along with the release of You Unstuck, Gill launched MyAccountabilityClub.com, dedicated to keeping people on track toward success. Through monthly conversations with experts, a community-based website and highly structured goal-keeping, Gill keeps her clients accountable to hitting personal and professional milestones ranging from revenue increase to weight loss.
Among Gill’s keys to accountability are:
*Get some leverage on yourself. If you’re motivated by rewards (healthy ones, that is) promise yourself a special treat after you’ve stuck to your habit for thirty days. But if you need a little more leverage, try punishment instead. Give a friend, family member or accountability buddy a hundred dollar bill - only to be given back to you if you complete your assignments within a specified timeframe.
*Set up systems that sustain you. Determine what keeps you accountable and set up a process that is repeatable and measurable. Use your technology, including your cell phone alarm, a pop-up calendar, or other devices to hold you to task. Example: if you want to lose weight join an online weight management site or keep a digital diet journal, taking cell phone pictures of your portions. You’re less likely to grab a gooey candy bar when you have to take a photo first.
*Anticipate setbacks. Expect to experience snags, obstacles and detours. It’s all part of the process of growth and change. Just recognize them for what they are – temporary – and don’t let them derail you.
*Share your goal with the world. Don’t keep your goal to yourself. Let others know what you’re up to so they can hold you accountable and make it harder for you not to keep your word. Tell your kids they can fine you a dollar every time you slip and you’ll not only set a good example, but you’ll add another layer of accountability while teaching them a powerful lesson.
*Join MyAccountabilityClub.com. By joining a community of like-minded people, you’ll find the support and solutions you need to stay on track.
