B-TEK’s custom-fabricated replacement scale constructed from 316L alloy stainless steel, was made to fit the existing scale foundation. Faced with the client’s battle with phosphoric acid corrosion; which was destroying load-out truck scales at a rate of about 1 every 5 years. B-TEK engineering was required to design a scale that could use available raw materials.
Canton, OH, March 13, 2010 --(PR.com)-- B-TEK’s custom-made replacement scale constructed from 316L alloy stainless steel, was made to fit the existing scale foundation.
B-TEK Scales, Inc. worked in conjunction with Controls and Weighing, their scale distributor in Tampa, Florida, to create and install the first stainless steel truck scale. B-TEK engineering and manufacturing had a significant challenge in sourcing deck plate and I-beams in 316L alloy stainless steel. Due to the configurations of available plate and beams, B-TEK engineering was required to design a scale that could use available raw materials.
Faced with the client’s battle with phosphoric acid corrosion; which was destroying load-out truck scales at a rate of about 1 every 5 years. In addition to the direct expense of replacing scales, the downtime involved with their installation resulted in lost revenue.
The choice of 316L stainless steel leads to a high resistance to pitting; withstanding corrosive actions of salts, acids and dyes.
The phosphate mining & fertilizer production company was promised a fast turn-around time and was pleased the installation was completed on March 4, 2010, in one day, as requested.
Controls & Weighing Systems completed the project in one day as promised; removing the old, installing the new and putting it into service. The job was done in a timely and professional manner with the heartfelt gratitude of the company personnel.
