Sculpture Remnants Still at Large: Good Samaritan Turns in Detail Photos to Police

Tiverton, RI, March 13, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Two suspects have been arrested in connection with the theft and destruction of a three hundred pound, three and one half foot bronze sculpture by artist Mimi Sammis, a TV host of National PBS show “Love to Paint with Mimi.”

The photos taken by the Good Samaritan depicted the two men cutting the bronze sculpture into small 5” to 7” pieces. Afterward the suspects went to a metal shop in Fall River Massachusetts who turned the men away. The men reported that they threw the pieces over a rusted chain link fence in the vicinity of Stevens Street in Fall River Massachusetts.

The artist plans to recreate a sculpture with the remnant pieces that are recovered. She explains, “The sculpture may have changed form but by being rebuilt it has not been destroyed.”

If you have any information regarding the location or the remains of the sculpture pieces please contact the Tiverton police at (401) 625-6717. The artist has offered a $300 reward for recovery of the sculpture.
