Merger Boosts Mt. Prospect Office of RE/MAX Suburban, a Leader in Metro Chicago Real Estate Market
Elgin, IL, March 14, 2010 --(PR.com)-- The RE/MAX Suburban office in Mt. Prospect, Ill., has ushered in what its management believes will be a period of strong growth by merging with RE/MAX Northwest of Des Plaines, Ill. The Mt. Prospect office, located at 330 E. Northwest Hwy., is one of seven RE/MAX Suburban offices serving the west, northwest and north suburbs of the metropolitan Chicago real estate market.
“Bringing the top agents from RE/MAX Northwest into our Mt. Prospect office is the first step toward significantly expanding that operation,” said Jim Nelson, Jr., one of the three broker/owners of RE/MAX Suburban. “Not only are we adding four outstanding agents who are bringing with them a substantial number of existing listings, we also will increase our market share in both Mt. Prospect and Des Plaines. Our goal is to be the number one office in every community we serve.”
RE/MAX already holds the leading market share in the Northwest Suburbs market area. Its agents listed 1,774, or 25.4 percent, of all residential listings sold in the Northwest Suburbs area during 2009, according to Midwest Real Estate Data, LLC (MRED). RE/MAX agents also led in buyer representation, assisting buyers with 1,593 transactions, or 22.8 percent.
Among the agents moving to RE/MAX Suburban are Bill Farrell and Mike Campuzano, the long-time broker/owners of RE/MAX Northwest. They opened their office in 1995, and both have been in the real estate industry for more than 20 years. Farrell is a resident of Mt. Prospect, while Campuzano lives in Prospect Heights.
“We’ve known for several years now that the city of Des Plaines wanted to acquire the building in which our office was located, and given the reduction in real estate activity that we’ve seen across the Chicago area and nationwide over that period, joining forces with RE/MAX Suburban, the largest RE/MAX office network under single ownership in northern Illinois, seemed like a logical next step,” said Campuzano.
Moving to the Mt. Prospect office with Farrell and Campuzano will be two other top agents from RE/MAX Northwest, Armando Zires and Anita Weinshenk.
“We’ve known and worked with Jim Nelson Jr. and others at RE/MAX Suburban in Mt. Prospect for many years and are looking forward to working with them, so the transition should be an easy one, especially for me because the office in so close to my home,” said Farrell.
Adding Farrell and Campuzano to the RE/MAX Suburban team is a welcome development, according to Nelson.
“Both Bill and Mike are highly successful agents with years of experience who do an outstanding job for their clients,” he said.
RE/MAX Suburban currently has more than 200 agents working in its seven offices, which are located in Arlington Heights, Glen Ellyn, Libertyville, Schaumburg and Wheaton, in addition to Mt. Prospect. In 2009, those offices accounted for closed sales in excess of $630 million.
“We anticipate that the housing market will be in a period of transition in 2010 and 2011,” said Nelson. “Housing prices have declined in the last three years, which is something the market had not experience for more than 70 years. However, real estate has been a great investment, and I believe that those who buy today, taking advantage of low interest rates and attractive prices, will be extremely pleased with the results down the road.”
RE/MAX is the leader in northern Illinois real estate sales and has been number one in the metropolitan Chicago real estate market since 1989. In 2009, the RE/MAX network in northern Illinois closed more than $6 billion in sales.
The RE/MAX Northern Illinois network consists of 2,500 associates and 121 individually owned and operated RE/MAX offices that provide residential, relocation and commercial real estate services throughout the northern one-third of Illinois. The network’s Web sites, www.illinoisproperty.com and www.remax.com, are two of the most popular real estate Web sites in northern Illinois and nationwide, respectively, according to Compete.com, Comscore and Hitwise, which are online intelligence services.
RE/MAX Northern Illinois is part of RE/MAX International, a global real estate organization with 6,500 independently owned offices and 93,000 member sales associates in 78 nations.
