Squiggly Line Media Releases Its First Children’s Book – This is Dot
Squiggly Line Media releases “This is Dot,” a unique children’s picture book for pre-readers and early readers about the colorful life of a simple, black dot.
Portland, OR, March 16, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Portland Oregon-based Squiggly Line Media is proud to announce the release of its first children’s book, “This is Dot” (ISBN: 9780984128907), a colorful picture book about a simple but boundlessly expressive black dot. Inspired by mid-century graphic print styles and the author’s children, “This is Dot” introduces little ones to a curious, friendly, and adventurous character while setting the stage for a planned series of books and animated shorts about Dot’s world.
Written and illustrated by Bjorn Ansbro, “This is Dot” presents children with a positive message of imagination, exploration and play. Opposing concepts, such as loud and quiet, light and dark, and night and day, help provide open-ended views into Dot’s world. Bjorn points out that designing Dot as a visual expression, rather than a cartoon or caricature, allowed him to break traditional story-telling patterns and create something flexible, interpretive, and unique. He explains, “I wanted ‘This is Dot’ to be completely universal with distinctive visuals that encourage imaginative interpretations and playful discussion.”
The response to “This is Dot” from children, parents, and child development professionals has been extremely positive. “Children seem to immediately identify with Dot and a number of parents have gone out their way to tell me about their own favorite page. It’s very gratifying,” Bjorn continues.
“This is Dot” is distributed by Ingram Book Company and is available in the U.S. through Powells.com, BarnesandNoble.com, and Amazon.com and worldwide on at least 14 international websites in Australia, Canada, France, Germany, India, Japan, Norway, Switzerland, and the U.K.
