Teaneck High School and Craftique Promotions to Host Craft Show March 21

Teaneck High School's University Program for Business Studies and Craftique Promotions will host the school's first ever student-run craft show on Sunday, March 21 to benefit the program's brand-new scholarship fund.

Teaneck, NJ, March 16, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Teaneck High School's innovative University Program for Business Studies will host the school's first ever student-run craft show on Sunday, March 21, from 11 am to 5 pm in the high school's main gym, located at 100 Elizabeth Ave. in Teaneck. The craft show will benefit the University Program's just-launched scholarship fund, which will provide financial assistance to one or more students who have completed the requirements for the University Program and who wish to major in business in college.

According to Instructional Leader Sheree Green, The University Program exposes students to 14 different business classes, allowing students to find their niche in the business world. Six of the offered classes are honors-level, and four offer a college credit option.

Under the guidance of Sheree Green and business teacher Katie Cannao, the University Program students are helping to coordinate all aspects of the craft show, including marketing and promotion, finances, show layout and organization, as well as staffing concessions and prize booths.

Ms. Green says, "We discussed different ideas for raising money for the scholarship fund, and a craft show was one we thought would be fun and profitable and would be a good learning experience for the students involved."

The University Program teamed up with NJ-based event planners Craftique Promotions, who met with the students to discuss how to run a successful craft show, and who are responsible for finding crafters of handmade goods for the show. Craftique Director Nikka Kowidge says, "We're thrilled to be working with such bright and enthusiastic students. Our goal is to help raise as much money as possible for the scholarship fund while hosting a show that is profitable for our vendors as well."

Admission to the craft show is free, and there will be opportunities to win door prizes donated from crafters and local merchants.
