ATC Logistics & Electronics Introduces Foreign Trade Zone Service
New offering lowers compliance and administrative costs for customers.
Fort Worth, TX, March 18, 2010 --(PR.com)-- ATC Logistics & Electronics (ATCLE), a subsidiary of ATC Technology Corporation (ATC) (NASDAQ:ATAC), is announcing its “ATCLE FTZ Services,” to provide customers with Foreign Trade Zone (FTZ) access that will reduce expenses on import duties, tariffs and fees. The new service will streamline the import and export of electronics equipment, and components, on a global basis.
“Reducing import and export costs is a major concern for our customers as they continue to expand in today’s highly competitive global economy,” said Antony Francis, president of ATCLE. “We have established our new FTZ practice to facilitate their needs as markets expand. As a best in class provider of specialized logistics services, ATCLE is constantly seeking innovative ways to create efficiencies in the supply chain, and reduce expenses for our customers. FTZ services will allow them to leverage our expertise, and sophisticated capabilities, to simplify the overall Customs process, while enjoying lower, or in some cases, eliminated fees.”
Each customer will receive expert counsel from ATCLE to guide them through the complete FTZ process, with detailed explanations of corresponding benefits especially related to the elimination or reduction of import expenses. These efforts can also help to alleviate a customer’s internal administrative, processing and compliance expenses.
The FTZ service will offer a myriad of benefits including duty avoidance, elimination and inversion. Import duties will not be applied until items are removed from the FTZ and remain in the U.S. for ultimate distribution. No fees will apply to exports. Business property taxes for exported goods can be eliminated altogether, as the FTZ is considered outside the boundaries of the State of Texas. Tariffs can be avoided for electronic components with higher value than finished products, until assembly, when lower duty rates apply. Products and peripheral equipment can also be packaged together to avoid tariffs.
Additionally, “Merchandise Processing Fees” can be reduced to an annual consolidated maximum of approximately $25,000. Typically, these fees can exceed hundreds of thousands of dollars on an annual basis if incurred individually. In addition, U.S. Customs fees can be consolidated on a weekly basis for further savings.
Based on the customer relationship and terms of work agreements, ATCLE will also be able to provide access to logistics and kitting & packaging services, within the FTZ. Flexible packaging services will ensure that Customs’ penalties for mismarked products can be averted.
