Mayor Jim Newberry to join Saint Joseph East Tuesday, March 23 for public ribbon-cutting ceremony.
Lexington, KY, March 19, 2010 --(PR.com)-- On Tuesday, March 23, Saint Joseph Health System will hold the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new Women’s Hospital at Saint Joseph East (the hospital’s opening date is March 29). The 60,000-square-foot facility, located next door to Saint Joseph East (150 N Eagle Creek Drive) and connected by pedway, will accommodate the enormous maternity growth that Saint Joseph East has experienced during recent years and be dedicated exclusively to women’s services.
“The number of deliveries at Saint Joseph East has grown from 400 to nearly 2,000 annually over the past eight years, and our patient satisfaction has remained very strong,” said Ken Haynes, President of Saint Joseph Hospital, Saint Joseph East, and Saint Joseph – Jessamine. “This new facility will allow even more mothers to choose Saint Joseph East as their women’s facility in a beautiful and exclusive environment that will offer the latest in care.”
The $60 million facility will house labor/delivery/recovery rooms, neonatal intensive care, a large nursery and all other aspects of maternity care. It will have a capacity of 3,000 deliveries annually. The facility will provide focused care for women who are pregnant and later expand to offer more services targeted toward women. Patient-centered design and amenities include a community center, gift shop, Cosi Restaurant, an interior courtyard and green space, and special waiting areas for dads, families and children. Along the corridors is original artwork from Kentucky artists.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held Tuesday, March 23 at 10 a.m. to officially debut the Women’s Hospital to the community. Mayor Jim Newberry will attend along with other city officials and Bishop Ronald Gainer will bless the new facility. The public is invited for refreshments and tours. On Monday, March 29 the Women’s Hospital will begin admitting patients.
