Russell Ameter, M.D., Joins Visiting Physicians Association® Office in Kalamazoo
Ameter hired as the newest physician in VPA office that covers the greater Kalamazoo and Battle Creek area and all of lower southwest Michigan.
Kalamazoo, MI, March 20, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Visiting Physicians Association® (VPA®, www.visitingphysicians.com) announced the addition of Russell Ameter, M.D. to its practice at 2725 Airview Blvd., Suite 105, in Kalamazoo, Mich.

VPA also has offices in Ohio, Texas, Florida, Indiana, Kentucky, Wisconsin and Virginia. The Kalamazoo office covers the greater Kalamazoo and Battle Creek area and all of lower southwest Michigan.
Ameter comes to VPA after serving as a family practitioner at Family Home Physicians and Battle Creek Medical Center. He was also employed with Pennock Hospital for almost a decade.
Ameter is active outside the office as well. He has served on the Blue Care Network Administrative Committee and PO/PHO Steering Committee with the Battle Creek Health System. He has also held positions as chairman for the PO/PHO Budget Committee with the Battle Creek Health System and Department of Family Practice. Additionally, he was the clinic commander for the Michigan Air National Guard and medical director at Riverside Nursing Facility in Battle Creek.
Ameter earned his medical doctorate from the American University of Caribbean School of Medicine in 1981 and completed both his internship and residency at Battle Creek Area Medical Education Corp. (BAMEC) and another residency with the Fort Wayne (Ind.) Medical Education Program (FWMEP). His background also includes a stint with the U.S. military, including roles as a U.S. Navy Hospital Corpsman from 1966-70 and in Vietnam with the U.S. Marines from 1967-68. He also was a flight surgeon for the Michigan Air National Guard from 1986-1995.
