The Icon Music Group Hires New Head of Business Affairs
Los Angeles, CA, March 20, 2010 --(PR.com)-- The Icon Music Group is pleased to announce the hiring of David McLees as head of Business Affairs.
David McLees has been in the entertainment and music business for over 23 years. He has most recently been president of his own consulting company Pop Fly Entertainment. McLees was also the President of JMG Records and co-owned the small label in partnership with Richard Foos, founder of the pop culture powerhouse Rhino Entertainment.
David served at Rhino Entertainment for over 16 years where he worked his way up from the very bottom to executive. As the company grew from 20 employees in 1987 to over 150 in 2003, David had the opportunity of learning many different functions of a music label including A&R, Business Affairs, and Marketing. At the end of his tenure at Rhino, McLees had achieved the title of Senior V.P. of Artists & Repertoire and had 25 employees under his direction.
David has produced and/or overseen some 1100 music albums, CDs and DVDs. He has been nominated for two Grammy awards and received some 15 Platinum and Gold record awards. David has worked with artists as diverse as Paul Simon, Chicago, Devo, Randy Newman, The Eagles, America, Black Sabbath, Carly Simon, Ennio Morricone, Dramarama, Moshav Band, and many others.
David says, “I’m excited about the opportunity to work with Icon and the Da Silva Group of Companies. I believe they have a business model that will be beneficial to both Artists and fans of music. It seems a worthy goal to try to keep the music ‘album’ format viable in a time where technological advances and other market forces have reduced much of the recorded music industry into a less satisfying, at least for the uber music fans, ‘song driven’ medium.”
The Icon Music Group is owned by the Da Silva Group of Companies. It owns and operates the Icon/Vantage, Icon Records DG and Seminal Music labels, all of which are based in Los Angeles, California and Edmonton, Alberta.
