Board-certified orthopedic surgeon Dr. Alan Nasar of Advanced Orthopedics and Sports Medicine Institute (AOSMI), Freehold and Monroe townships, New Jersey, was inducted as a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS) during ceremonies at the Academy’s 2010 annual meeting. Dr. Nasar is fellowship-trained in joint replacement, and also specializes in avascular necrosis, knee and hip arthroscopy, and fracture and trauma care.

Dr. Nasar, who is fellowship-trained in joint replacement surgery, received his M.D. from the medical school of University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. He completed surgical internships in general surgery and orthopaedic surgery at the State University of New York - Stony Brook Hospital, and adult reconstructive surgery at Desert Orthopaedic Center, Las Vegas, Nevada. Dr. Nasar holds a degree in mechanical engineering from Cooper Union for the Advancement of Art and Science, New York City, where he received specialized training in biomechanics and biometrics.
Dr. Nasar is a senior staff member at Advanced Orthopedics and Sports Medicine Institute, which provides a range of services, including sports medicine, joint replacement, fracture care, spine care, work injury care, hand and wrist care, physiatry, foot and ankle care, and osteoporosis care to the residents of Freehold and Monroe Townships and surrounding towns in Monmouth and Middlesex Counties.
