Salut Wine + Food Festival Calgary Announces 2010 Event Roster
Salut Wine + Food Festival launches in Calgary on April 7, 2010 with a full line-up of events offering something for every taste and every budget.
Calgary, Alberta, Canada, March 24, 2010 --(PR.com)-- This year’s festival includes fourteen events over eleven days at seven different venues, from April 7 – 17 with prices ranging from $35 to $250. “There’s something which will appeal to everyone, from those who are just seeking a fun evening out with friends, to the serious wine enthusiast wanting to enhance their knowledge and sample some extraordinary wines paired with fantastic food,” says Don House, Festival Director.
The most popular events from last year are back, including two evenings of competition with “Hot Chefs & Cool Food”, a black-box, Iron Chef-style competition featuring Calgary’s top chefs. Featuring Food Network celebrity chef, Chuck Hughes of Garde Manger (Montreal), the event is always a fun and boisterous evening. The first battle takes place on Wednesday, April 7th with the final challenge on April 15. Both battles are hosted at Olives, 1129 Olympic Way SE.
The extremely popular appetizer challenge is back and will be held at the Art Gallery of Calgary on Thursday, April 8. Named the “Fetzer Great Beginnings Appetizer Challenge”, competing chefs are challenged to select ingredients and create an appetizer they feel will pair well with Fetzer Pinot Grigio. Guests will taste and compare the different creations to vote on the most innovative wine and food pairing.
For those wishing to test their palate, Salut Purveyors of Fine Wine features more than 100 wines, carefully selected from local purveyors. This educational and informal festival-style tasting provides light fare to cleanse the palate, including the traditional wine accompaniment, cheese, courtesy of the Dairy Farmers of Canada.
