Warsteiner Brewery Expands Its Collaboration with Infor
Privately-Held Brewery Ushers in the Second Phase of Supply Chain Management Project.
Munich, Germany, November 09, 2006 --(PR.com)-- Infor, one of the largest global providers of enterprise software, today announced Warsteiner Brewery has again decided on Infor. The privately-held brewery will expand its deployment of Infor Supply Chain Management (SCM) to include Infor Advanced Scheduling. Previously, Infor SCM was utilized primarily for production and material demand planning in the areas of filtration and bottling at the two breweries in Warsteiner and Paderborn. From this point forward, the beer production process in the brew houses will also be included.
One of the key factors in this decision was Infor’s solid knowledge of the industry and the advanced scheduling capabilities of Infor SCM. The supply chain management solutions are tailored to the production needs and processes essential to the food and beverage industry. Seven of the ten largest breweries in the world are currently using Infor Advanced Scheduling solutions to improve their production yields without increasing their costs.
Warsteiner Brewery was particularly convinced by the good results obtained during the first phase of the project. Licensed since June 2005, the brewing group utilizes Infor SCM to plan the processes associated with filtration and bottling in a way that allows them to optimize costs while taking into account resources such as employee availability, means of production, and raw materials. Through the use of a web browser, all participating departments of the Warsteiner and Paderborner Brewery can see current schedules and reports at any time through the Internet, and thus have access to complete information concerning ongoing processes.
The second phase of the project was started in August 2006 and will combine the areas of filtration and bottling (which are already supported) with the processes in the brew house to create an overall plan which can be centrally administered. The goal is to optimize basic beer production, including by-products such as yeast and CO2.
“Since the implementation of the Infor solution, we can react more quickly and effectively to external factors such as customer requirements and changes in demand, and thus optimize our production process accordingly,” says Peter Himmelsbach, Technical Director of Warsteiner Brewery. “This leads to increased customer satisfaction and minimum costs at the same time. With the second phase of the SCM project, we will be able to exploit additional synergies of the production and business processes.”
“Because regulations are becoming increasingly restrictive, breweries must take into account current best practices, customer requirements, and legal regulations during the entire life-span of the product and simultaneously ensure that they are operating in a cost-efficient manner,” explains Hermann Stehlik, Vice President & General Manager, Infor Process Business Unit. “That Warsteiner Brewery wants to expand its collaboration with us is a good example of how perfectly our software is able to meet all these requirements.”
