Visiting Physicians Association® Names Smith as Practice Manager at South Bend Office
Rita Smith, RN, hired as practice manager in VPA office that covers the greater “Michiana” area, including St. Joseph, Elkhart, LaPorte, Berrien and Cass Counties.
South Bend, IN, March 27, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Visiting Physicians Association® (VPA®, www.visitingphysicians.com) announced the hiring of Rita Smith, RN, as the new practice manager for its South Bend office at 5838 W. Brick Rd., Suite 106. This location covers the greater “Michiana” area, including St. Joseph, Elkhart, LaPorte, Berrien and Cass Counties.

In her role as practice manager, Smith is responsible for the overall direction, coordination and evaluation of the administrative and clinical area. She also will be handling management responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and procedures for the Physician Practice.
Prior to joining VPA, Smith served as manager in the critical care unit (CCU) at Lakeland Regional Health System in St. Joseph, Mich. She also held positions at St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center and St. Joseph’s Community Hospital.
Additionally, Smith, who earned her Associate Degree in Nursing from Ivy Tech State College, has been honored multiple times during her career. In 2008, she earned the VHA Leadership Award for the successful implementation of new best practices. They led to the elimination of ventilator associated pneumonia for two consecutive years and decreased patient length of stay in the intensive care unit (ICU) by three days.
