The Economist’s Matthew Bishop to Keynote Chamber’s 216th Annual Meeting

New Haven, CT, March 27, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Matthew Bishop, U.S. business editor of The Economist will keynote the 216th Annual Meeting of the Greater New Haven Chamber of Commerce. The event will take place at 7:30 a.m., Thursday, April 22, 2010 at the Omni New Haven Hotel at Yale. Bishop will present from his new book, The Road from Ruin: How to Revive and Put America on Top (Crown Business: January 2010).

Matthew Bishop is the U.S. business editor of The Economist and a former faculty member of the London Business School. He has served as a member of the Sykes Commission on the investment system in the 21st Century. He was also on the Advisors Group of the United Nations International Year of Microcredit 2005. He has been honored as a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum. His 2008 book, Philanthrocapitalism, was described as "terrific" by The New York Times. Bishop is a graduate of Oxford University.

The event features the election of its Board of Directors. The Chamber will also present its prestigious Corporate Heritage Award to Southern Connecticut State University. The Corporate Heritage Award honors businesses that have operated successfully for more than 100 years in New Haven.
