‘90s Comedy Parody Forever Summer Wraps Up Its Run on wondersTV
Los Angeles, CA, March 26, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Remember the ‘90s, when teen sitcoms like Saved by the Bell and Boy Meets World ruled the airwaves? Happily, those days are back with Forever Summer, an irreverent homage to the kind of programming that made Urkel, Balki and Screech household names. The four-episode series, which is now wrapping up with a riotous finale, is the creation of on line network wondersTV.

Forever Summer follows a group of friends who spend their days surfing, skating and working in a SoCal coffee shop, and their nights playing in beach-tunes-oriented band Rip Kurl. The first episode, which premiered in March 2009, introduced biker dude Briggs, the new kid in town who becomes the band’s lead guitarist. The just-completed finale brings the series full circle as viewers learn that there might be more – or perhaps less – to Briggs than meets the eye.

When the episode opens, Clayton, Staci and the rest of the gang are shocked at Briggs’ refusal to participate in an upcoming bike-a-thon to raise funds for cancer research. As it turns out, he has a good reason, but the revelation threatens to end his relationship with his new friends.

“We set up the finale like those ‘very special episodes’ of our favorite ‘90s sitcoms,” said wondersTV founder Chris Cantey. “Instead of having a character get into drugs or lose a beloved family member, we used a cancer theme, but kept all the laughs without focusing on the heavier topic. We wanted to send the show off into the sunset with a big bang that would leave the audience wanting more.”

In each 10-12 minute episode, members of the Sick Grindz Coffee Shop gang face the kinds of mix-ups, misunderstandings and friendship-testing situations that made teen sitcoms appointment television for millions of young fans. The show features an original soundtrack, a smattering of language that Mr. Feeny wouldn’t have tolerated in his classroom, unique commercials, throwback beach attire, and a collection of amazing wigs – on the guys.

wondersTV was launched in 2005 by a group of young Floridians who decided that, rather than simply waiting for a television network or movie studio to pick up their work, they’d create their own vehicle for distributing their projects and those of other filmmakers. Now located in Los Angeles, wondersTV can be accessed on iTunes, iPhones, Apple TV, PlayStation, Xbox and PSP, as well as on the Internet at www.wondersTV.com. Viewers can also embed the player on any Web site and access the entire content library without leaving that page.

In addition to Forever Summer and other Web series, wondersTV features music videos, short films, exercise videos and a wide array of other pieces submitted by up-and-coming young filmmakers.
