Aussie & Kiwi Travellers Provide Hope to Greece Tour Operators
Whilst it was reported yesterday by Air Berlin's CEO that tour operators in Greece had recorded a massive drop in bookings, Travis Pittman, the co-founder of bugbitten.com, a worldwide tour search engine has got some positive news for Greek tour operators.
London, United Kingdom, March 27, 2010 --(PR.com)-- In the past month, bugbitten.com and its' partner sites have seen a significant increase in searches for tours to Greece (in particular the Greek Islands). Mr Pittman also said that at a recent travel show in London (primarily for Australians and New Zealanders), "A large percentage of people who test drove bugbitten's tour search engine were looking for trips in and around Greece and the Greek Islands for the summer."
Mr Pittman said that "Greece has always been a popular destination for Australians and New Zealanders living in London, however in recent years has been trumped by equally as beautiful, but cheaper destinations like Croatia. Perhaps the financial problems Greece are experiencing at the moment, could make it a more affordable travel destination as it may prompt local businesses to become more competitive in terms of pricing to attract more travellers to their region."
So whilst the Brits and Germans might be steering clear of debt-stricken Greece, the 'no-worries' Aussie and Kiwi travellers living and working in London may provide the Greek tour operators with a glimmer of hope in an otherwise dark time...
