Bumper Year Predicted for UK Caravan and Camping Holidays

Award winning caravan and camping site operator Forest Holidays is predicting a busy year for the UK caravan and camping holiday business. 2009 statistics showed that UK camping and caravan holidays were up 21% and the company, who run 20 caravan and camping sites in the UK, is predicting that the upwards trend will continue.

London, United Kingdom, March 31, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Forest Holidays Marketing Manager Carron Smith said: “The popularity of UK caravan and camping holidays looks set to increase in 2010. With holidays in Europe continuing to decline due to the weak Euro and the recession, more people are staying at home and enjoying time getting back to nature in the beautiful British countryside. Our bookings are already higher than this time last year and we would advise people looking for a camping or caravanning holiday to book early this year and avoid the peak season rush.”

Forest Holidays reports that many of those who booked for the first time in 2009 are already booking for 2010, and many are opting for pitches with electricity.

Carron Smith continues: “Many customers who had previously holidayed abroad, have brought with them the experience of holidaying in Europe and have higher expectations of UK camping and caravanning sites. Forest Holidays is in the ideal position to meet these high expectations with stunning Forestry Commission woodland and loch side locations and recent investment in many of our sites.”

This investment has included schemes to enhance the green credentials of Forest Holidays sites, a project that backed by an eco-friendly culture throughout the business, has contributed to Forest Holidays winning a clutch of David Bellamy Conservation Awards for protecting wildlife habitats, recycling and efficient use of energy. In all a total of seven sites received gold awards, and two were granted silvers. In addition Forest Holidays’ Postern Hill site in Wiltshire won an Award of Special Distinction – one of only 15 sites in the UK to do so.

Also in line with the higher expectations of the new breed of caravanners and campers, Forest Holidays has introduced more for customers to take part in on site, including activities on certain sites with Forest Rangers such as dusk watch and forest survival and adventures such as archery and canoeing. Many sites offer bike hire, and special breaks such as the eco friendly Bikepacking in the New Forest are new for 2010.

“With all the new facilities on site and increased bookings predicted, Forest Holidays is looking at a busy year.” Concludes Carron Smith “It’s great to see the British public appreciating the British countryside– long may the trend continue.”
