PioMu Launches Online Store for Non-Toxic and Eco-Friendly Toys
After becoming first time parents, two MIT alumni dedicated more than 1 year researching about toxics in toys. They saw a need to create a store where parents felt safe buying toys for their kids.
Miami, FL, March 31, 2010 --(PR.com)-- PioMu has officially launched their online store which offers a unique collection of non-toxic and eco-friendly toys and kid's accessories and it is accessible via http://www.piomu.com.
PioMu is a company founded and managed by a couple of young parents, Glorimar Ripoll and Luis Benitez, who graduated from MIT. They both dedicated more than a year researching the toy market with an emphasis of learning about the toxins that these toys could have and the harm they could cause to their children.
“Typically, the most demanding parents look for educational toys. However, the fact that a toy is educational doesn't mean that it's free of dangerous toxins. We won't allow that our children put their health at risk while they play”, said Ripoll, CEO of PioMu.
Studies done by the non-profit organization The Ecology Center of Michigan as recent as December 2009 show that 1 of every 3 toys still have medium to high levels of toxic chemicals. In recent years, there has been an increase in behavior and endocrine disorders, autoimmune diseases, and cancer which could be related to the exposure of these toxins.
PioMu's priority is to see kids smile as they learn and play in a safe and healthy environment. This guarantees a fun time without worrying while they work to create a better society and better quality of living for all. PioMu has carefully selected its suppliers and manufacturers, all of which must meet the strictest standards in toy safety.
PioMu's commitment with health extends to the health of our planet. The majority of the toys offered are made with recycled materials which reduce energy and the greenhouse effects. Other toys are organic which help keep dangerous pesticides out of our air, water, land, and bodies. Additionally, none of its toys requires batteries which prevents tons of garbage from being created.
PioMu delivers to the United States and its territories (including Puerto Rico). And to better serve the increasing hispanic population of the United States, PioMu is also offering a page in Spanish.
PioMu creates a secure and comfortable shopping experience. "From your home, you can learn about a product more than you ever could at any retail store since you can see the complete description of the product, view photos, read reviews by other shoppers, and watch video reviews created by PioMu”, adds Ripoll. The store also allows its members to create a wish list and a gift registry.
