Michael Frank MD, JD, FACEP, was recently honored by the City of Cleveland for his outstanding service to the citizens of Cleveland and surrounding communities.

Cleveland, OH, August 16, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Michael Frank MD, JD, FACEP, was recently honored by the City of Cleveland for his outstanding service to the citizens of Cleveland and surrounding communities. Recognized by Cleveland Mayor Frank Jackson and applauded by the Physicians Advisory Board, Dr. Frank's contribution to the health and well-being of the region extends nearly 3 decades.

Dr. Frank's personal commitment to the people of Ohio is matched only by his distinguished and unrelenting service to Emergency Medical Response systems in their communities. He served as Medical Advisor to the Hudson EMS for 25 years, his hometown, where he developed many EMS innovations which were later adopted by other squads locally and nationally. He has worked with the Cleveland EMS system since 1980. He was Medical Advisor for the City of Green Fire Department for over twenty years. At various times, Dr. Frank served as the Medical Advisor for the Fire Departments of Tallmadge, Lakemore, Norton, Suffield, Brimfield and the Valley Fire District, all of which are communities in and around the Akron area. He has served as Vice Chair of the Cleveland Physicians Advisory Board since it began 20 years ago.

Much of Dr Frank's early work on emergency transport protocols while serving Hudson EMS were pioneering in the field and are now used across the country. These include protocols for cervical-spine immobilization using the same criteria which were later identified and published as the NEXUS criteria; protocols for termination of resuscitation in the field; procedures for refusal for transport; and IV anti-emetic use by paramedics in the field.

Dr. Frank also serves as General Counsel and Director of Risk Management for Emergency Medicine Physicians (EMP), an emergency medicine recruitment company, based in Canton Ohio. He directly oversees EMP's legal affairs and serves as advisor to their emergency medicine physicians and staff in risk management and legal matters. He is a member of the EMP Holdings Board and of EMP's captive medical malpractice insurance company, PSLRRG.

Dr. Frank is a nationally recognized speaker in Risk Management and EMTALA Law.

Dr. Frank is a Diplomat of the American Board of Emergency Medicine. He is a Life Fellow of the American College of Emergency Physicians and a Fellow of the American College of Legal Medicine. He is Chairman of the Board of Trustees for Summa Barberton Hospital, Vice Chairperson for the Public Safety Physician Advisory Board for the City of Cleveland, on the Board of Governors for the Tuscora Park Foundation, and Clinical Associate Professor for Northeast Ohio Universities College of Medicine.

Dr. Frank holds a Bachelor's degree from Yale University, Doctorate of Medicine from Case Western Reserve School of Medicine, and received his J.D. from Case Western Reserve School of Law, graduating cum laude. He performed a surgical internship at North Shore University Hospital in NY, and his residency at University Hospitals and Saint Luke's Hospital in OH.
