Columbus, OH, November 10, 2006 --(PR.com)-- Wells Landing and Gary’s Gallery, 636 North High Street, in the Short North Arts District will be featuring Blenko Glass at the December 2nd Gallery Hop. The current president, Richard Deakin Blenko, fourth generation of the Blenko family, will be present at the store to sign and appraise Blenko Glass from 7 PM to 9 PM.
Blenko Glass has been collected since the 1920’s when William J. Blenko started the company in Milton, West Virginia. In 1976, Richard D. Blenko, son of William Blenko, Jr., joined the Blenko family business. In 1989, he published the book Blenko Glass 1930-1953 and founded the Blenko Glass Museum in Milton, WV. He has carried the Blenko handcraft name to PBS (Public Broadcasting Service) in numerous fund raisers for them and has become the newest and most visible face for the Blenko Glass Company. He has appeared on CNN, Fox Television, and has been the topic of many national print articles. Today, when people think of Blenko handcraft, they usually think of Richard Blenko.
Wells Landing and Gary’s Gallery are thrilled and excited to have a nationally recognized art company like Blenko featured at their store. Wells Landing is proudly celebrating its fourth year in the Short North Art District while Gary’s Gallery, an art gallery inside of Wells Landing, is celebrating its one year anniversary. November’s featured artists are Steven Riggs’ representational realism and Ken Beckett’s glass. They also have a number of local emerging artists work in our store including: the jewelry of Erin Addington and Susan De Nies; paintings by Elena Akers, Jaime Hesper, Josh Seligman and Patricia Nettles; giclee prints of Clay Sneller and Frank Peto; water colors by Mary Ann Harlan; multimedia pieces by Russ Hench; photography by Bob Hoback and Hideta Nagai; mobil art by David Morgan and the digital art of Larry Spencer and Gary Harper, the owner of the store.
If you own and Blenko glass or know anyone who does, send them to Wells Landing and Gary’s Gallery on December 2nd from 6 PM to 9 PM to meet Richard and have their glass appraised and signed or come by and start your collection with a piece signed by Richard.
