Baterbys is Major Sponsor at Exclusive Gay Polo League Tournament in Wellington
Baterbys Art Auction Gallery, Florida's premiere art gallery & auction house, sponsors Gay Polo League Tournament in Wellington Florida.
Orlando, FL, April 03, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Baterbys’ Art Auction Gallery has been announced as the VIP Pavilion Sponsor for the 1st Annual International Gay Polo Tournament, April 3, 2010 at the Grand Champions Polo Club in Wellington, FL. The Tournament commences at 1:00 p.m. and will conclude at 5:00 p.m.
In the Baterbys Pavilion the Art Auction Gallery will showcase multiple works of art that are available through their gallery as they are offered for sale during the silent and live auctions. The silent auction will take place during the tournament inside the Baterbys Pavilion, while the live auction will occur prior to the trophy presentation.
Baterbys is a full service art gallery offering exquisite, unique, and limited edition graphic artworks. Along with their prestigious artwork, Baterbys also specializes in art lectures, art appraisals, home show previews and custom framing They also hold four live auctions a year in each of the gallery locations in which a portion of the proceeds are donated to charity. Baterbys explained, “It is imperative to our gallery to advocate for charities that could benefit from donors. Our charity partners, such as Threshold Center for Autism, B.A.S.E. Camp, Children's Cancer Foundation, United Cerebral Palsy (UCP) of Central Florida, Give Kids The World, and Carver Middle School, are groups that assist children in need within our diverse community. We hope that all children that have been affected by life threatening diseases are able to live a full life in spite of the challenges they face.” A portion of the auction proceeds will benefit Courtney’s Wish, which was founded in honor of Courtney Wolfe. Wolfe was diagnosed with Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia in August of 2009 and has been fighting the devastating disease for nine months.
The ownership of Baterbys has been involved in art for over 40 years, and opened their first store in February of 2009 in Orlando, FL. With the overwhelming demand Baterbys decided to open another store in Delray Beach, FL in January 2010. Each gallery features monthly themes for the artwork exhibited, and the Palm Beach gallery holds weekly lectures about different artists, movements and artistic mediums.

What: Unprecedented, the GPL Tournament will take place during the first week of April. The tournament will field four teams, each of which is to be comprised of GPL players and anchored by a high-goal professional.
Who is GPL: GPL is the sole international polo league to be primarily comprised of lesbian and gay players. Founded to enable gay men and women to share their interest in this unique sport, GPL has created a community of passionate, like-minded athletes. GPL’s mission is to provide the gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender (GLBT) community with the opportunity to develop and refine the necessary skills for participating in this exceptional sport. To achieve its mission, GPL continues to promote participation in amateur competitions and foster fellowship and goodwill among all members.
