Pentacle Theatre Musical Opening in Moscow, Russia
Oregon show set for international premiere.
Salem, OR, April 21, 2010 --(PR.com)-- “DORIAN—The Remarkable Mr. GRAY,” book, music and lyrics by Randy Bowser, had its amateur premiere in 2008 at Pentacle Theatre, Salem, Oregon. Michael Butler, producer of the original “HAIR” on Broadway, arranged for the dramatic musical to have its professional international premiere in Moscow, Russia, at The Stas Namin Centre.
Previews begin April 29th, 2010, with the official opening to follow in June.
Bowser worked with the Russian theatre on “Dorian” for three weeks in 2008. Originally scheduled to open in 2009, the premiere was deferred until now due to the impact of the world-wide financial crisis.
Stas Namin established his theatre in Gorky Park in 1999. It was the first privately owned entertainment organization following the collapse of Soviet Russia. Namin is famous throughout Russia as a cultural hero, having founded the democratized country's first major rock band, “Flowers.”
Namin's group of performers regularly perform shows such as “Jesus Christ Superstar” and “HAIR.” Now, “Dorian Gray” has been added to the group's repertoire of on-going events.
Bowser's musical is a semi-operatic adaptation of Oscar Wilde's “The Picture of Dorian Gray.”
Bowser is a member of ASCAP (The American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers) who has been composing music since his grade school years.
