Motorcoach Council Elects New Board of Directors and Sets Goals for 2010

The Motorcoach Council, an industry-wide organization established to promote public awareness of the benefits of motorcoach transportation throughout North America, elected its new Board of Directors during a meeting in Denver, CO this week. The Board brings a new energy to the mission, and ushers in goals that align the Council with its strategic marketing plan.

Denver, CO, April 04, 2010 --(PR.com)-- The Motorcoach Council Directors elected to serve two-year terms are: Brian Annett, of Annett Bus Lines (Chairman); Jack Wigley, of All Aboard America (Vice Chairman); Ron Bast of Riteway Bus Service, Inc.; Scott Merriman of Scenic America Tours, Inc.; and James Mills of Gaylord Transportation & Tours. Directors elected to serve one-year terms are: Gladys Gillis of Starline Transportation (Secretary/Treasurer); and Sandy Allen, of Royal Coach Tours. Peter Pantuso, of the American Bus Association; and Victor Parra of the United Motorcoach Association will continue to serve the Board as representatives of the industry’s national associations. Former chairman, Todd Holland of Ramblin Express, and Steve Klika of the International Motorcoach Group (IMG) will serve as non-voting ex-officio members of the board.

"I am honored and excited to chair the Motorcoach Council board,” said Brian Annett. “The groundwork has been laid by the Founding Partners, the prior board and our former Chairman, Todd Holland. Holland's dedication to this campaign has been unwavering and he helped the Council get where it is today, and we are indebted to Todd’s dedication to the industry.” Annett added, “Moving forward, with the support of the Board, industry associations, and motorcoach operators from coast to coast, we hope to continue the forward progress already underway.”

Heather Horton, will now serve as Executive Director of the Motorcoach Council, and will help develop and implement the new programs and policies set forth by the Board, while actively providing outreach to the industry and to the general public. Pamela Wolff, Principal of Pennsylvania-based, ‘Connections,’ is retained to procure strategic partnerships and alliances that are in line with the Council’s goals, objectives, strategies and tactics.

“Whereas the Motorcoach Council continues to rely on contributions from motorcoach operators, associations and suppliers, who were invaluable in the launch of the initial public awareness campaign,” stated Annett, “We plan to reach beyond our core industry partners to forge long-term alliances with additional strategic partners such as a major travel industry and consumer branded products, as we build consumer awareness and shift public awareness toward motorcoach travel. Grant money and federal funding is also being pursued.”

Annett continued to say, “Public perception in favor of motorcoach travel will be enhanced overtime. The changes we hope to make are generational, and the partnerships we form in the coming two years will be vital to the success of our messages. I encourage everyone to get involved with this initiative, and stay up to date with our progress by contacting Heather Horton at 720-449-9000 or by visiting our websites: www.MotorcoachCouncil.org and http://www.GetMotorcoachified.com.”
