WNY Bands Unite to Play in EXPOSURE Concert: Exposing Domestic Violence
OP Music House's groundbreaking EXPOSURE Concert has received an emotional outpouring of support. Since the concept was announced in February, forty bands have volunteered to perform at the two-day event which will be streamed live around the world and captured and sold on DVD, to expose domestic violence.
Orchard Park, NY, April 06, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Western New York has historically surpassed other regions when it comes to helping each other; be it for neighbor or charity; be it food, services, coats or cash, regardless of the state of the economy.
In only about 10 weeks time, word has spread coast to coast of this first-of-its-kind event, based on the concept that if abusers were exposed, they wouldn't do it.
Using Facebook as the chief means of promotions, followed by real, in-person networking, the "EXPOSURE Concert: Because Love Shouldn't Hurt" has forty confirmed bands of various genres to donate performances. On Facebook, OP Music House has gained 1563 friends and roughly 600 fans.
OP Music House's founder, Suzanne Perry, has been promoting the event while befriending the Western New York music scene: from bands to venue owners to staging and of course the fans. Every weekend, she's out photographing, critiquing and publishing about live bands in the area.
March found Perry on a "Peace Mission" as she spent a week outside of Tuscon, Arizona and a week across Southern California, meeting as many people as possible, including musicans, in Redlands, Laguna and Venice Beaches as well as L.A.
And deeper than that, Perry is on another mission: to find those who may be scared in the fog, as a subject of domestic abuse. After enduring 22 years herself, she now speaks out and writes about domestic violence and abuse, to help educate the public but especially to reach out to people. She wishes to be a voice to say "never give up," and to be a "lantern of hope."
People are finally catching on. Perry's venture has been published in the OP Press, WNY Women In Business, and the Orchard Park Bee. 97 Rock's Carl Russo featured her on Citadel's "Sound Magazine."
May 9, she will be featured on "Heard it on the X," an internet radio program hosted by Rich Rogenmoser, owner of the Music Exchange and Mick Hayes, multi-award-winning blues musician. There, they will discuss the concert and the cause.
The EXPOSURE Concert will be held at Club Paradise in Blasdell, August 14-15. Tickets are available on the OP Music House's website. Club Paradise is adjoined to McKinley's hotel. Concert-goers can book a room, prevent drinking and driving, and skip a drive to enjoy day 2 of rocking for a cause.

OP Music House, Inc. is a non-profit corporation whose mission is to give young adults exposure to what's involved in "being a rock star." On-site usage of instruments, a stage/venue to enhance, stimulate and enrich their musical peforming talents, and hands-on experimenting with the recording and mixing process is provided, all free of charge as a community service. Interactive enrichment sessions will be held to raise self-esteem and bring out artistic talents. Regular guest speakers, mentors and professional musicians guide musical amateurs into the real-world industry. An emergency 24-hour hotline will also be engaged.
