New Editors Only Article: The Dirt on Online Magazines

Announcing the publication of a new Editors Only feature article.

New Britain, CT, April 07, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Editors Only, the monthly newsletter for publication editors, has published a new article about online magazine publishing in its March 2010 issue. The article is the first in what is to be a two-article series about the future of magazine publishing and the role that online and digital editions will play in that future.

In “The Dirt on Online Magazines,” research editor Meredith Dias discusses the various perks and pitfalls of online magazine publishing. The article includes comments from several prominent editors regarding the tricky process of digitization, as well as some data from the recent Columbia Journalism Review study, Magazines and Their Websites.

The article also discusses the lack of uniform online editing protocols and the hype surrounding online magazine publishing. There is a tendency, Dias claims, for some magazine publishers to take an online-only approach when their audience still prefers a print edition. Though the immediate cost savings are tempting, Dias and other editors quoted in the article caution against any hasty shifts away from print.
