Jacksonville, FL, April 08, 2010 --(PR.com)-- The Northeast Florida Builders Association’s Parade of Homes 2010 gets underway this weekend. The free event, which showcases new homes in Duval, St. Johns, Nassau and Clay Counties, happens April 10-18, 2010. A complete listing of the Homes on Parade will run in a magazine insert in the April 10 Florida Times-Union, along with feature articles on some of the latest new home construction and design trends, including new green/energy-saving features. More information is also available at www.jacksonville.com/paradeofhomes, including an interactive map with search capabilities and directions to all Parade models.
“Since Parade week falls just before the April 30 Federal Tax Credit filing deadline, this is one of the last opportunities for buyers to take advantage of the tax credit. New homes featured on Parade can easily be closed by the June deadline,” said Jim Doyle, Parade of Homes chairman.
The Parade will also offer free workshops that will teach homeowners and potential owners how to build a new home, decorate it and get a great night’s sleep. Slated for Saturday, April 17 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Ashley Furniture HomeStore at St. Johns Town Center, the workshops include complimentary refreshments, special incentives from Ashley Furniture and a bonus chance to register to win up to $15,000 in parade prizes.
Session leaders include Andy Chambers, president of NEFBA and MasterCraft Builders Group; Florida Housing Hall of Fame member Rita Williams, president of Merchandising Plus; and Amy Matlock, a sleep consultant with Sealy, Inc., the world’s largest bedding manufacturer. The following is the schedule for the Parade of Homes workshops:
10 a.m. “Builder 101: the Ins and Outs of New Home Construction” with Andy Chambers. This workshop covers the basics of homebuilding. Chambers will draw on his 20 years of new construction knowledge to reveal how to read a plan, understand basic construction techniques and schedules while providing insight into every facet of the process.
10:45 a.m. “Interior Design Trends” with Rita Williams. Whether you are looking to decorate a brand new home or update your current one, this session will feature the latest colors, fabrics, finishes, furniture styles and decorating themes in a fun seminar jam-packed with great ideas.
11:30 a.m. “Secrets for Sleeping Well” with Aimee Matlock. Once you own your dream home with décor to suit your lifestyle, the biggest challenge can be getting a good night’s sleep in it. Matlock will share tips on how to maintain the right sleeping habits to have better health, vitality, clarity of thought and better memory consolidation.
Parade visitors may register at the seminars or in any home on the Parade tour to win a $10,000 shopping spree at Ashley Furniture HomeStore or a $5,000 NEFBA down payment match to be used for contracting a new home during the Parade from any participating builder. Tour participants may preregister on the Parade Web site, www.jacksonville.com/paradeofhomes, to increase their odds of winning.
While all Parade workshops are free, seating is limited. Times are approximate and each session will include time for audience questions. For more details on the Parade of Homes 2010, call (904) 725-4355 or visit www.nefba.com.
