Buffalo, NY, April 09, 2010 --(PR.com)-- WNYKids.com, Baby’s Sweet Beginnings (Lancaster), Insty-Prints (Cheektowaga) and Monkey See, Monkey Do, Children's Bookstore (Clarence) have joined forces to collect new books and pajamas for area children to benefit the Pajama Program. The Pajama Program provides new pajamas and new books to children in need, many who are waiting and hoping to be adopted. The thousands of children that are served, live in orphanages, group homes and shelters and are often shuffled between temporary living facilities. Many of them have been abused or abandoned, and have never enjoyed the simple comfort of having a mother or father tuck them in at bedtime and read to them. Since 2001, through the generous donations of people just like you, they have been able to provide more than 350,000 pajamas and 140,000 books to children in need nationwide. The Pajama Program has 70 chapters in the United States and several international chapters. The Pajama Program Buffalo Chapter, under the direction of Ann Cardena since 2007, has distributed over 5000 pairs of pajamas and over 2000 books to children in need. Inspired to lend a hand after watching a news clip on television regarding the program, Ann decided to start the chapter in Buffalo when she learned that one was in need. The Buffalo Chapter supports Compass House, Cornerstone Manor, Gerard Place,Harvest House, Haven House, Salvation Army and Community Action Organization(Head Start Program) of Erie County.

“We wanted to do something for our community,” says Kelly Murphy, an editor for WNYKids.com “and we couldn’t think of anything more basic for children than warm, snuggly pajamas.” Stacey Knights Pellicano, also an editor for WNYKids.com said, “Having an internet only presence, we wanted to reach out to our business relationships for drop off locations, and they jumped right on board, as we knew they would.”

The team plans to collect the new pajamas and books through April 28th. People can leave their donations at Baby’s Sweet Beginnings at 231 Aurora St., Lancaster | Insty-Prints at 3959 Union Road, Cheektowaga | Monkey See, Monkey Do, 9060 Main St. Clarence during their business hours. The final donation will be presented to The Pajama Program Buffalo Chapter at their “Fondue For A Cause” Event at the Melting Pot, Walden Galleria Mall on April 29, 2010. They hope to collect 50 pairs of pajamas for this area. For other drop off locations in Western New York, visit www.WNYKids.com
