The Medal Play Golf Tour Resumes Play May 16th at Westin Mission Hills
The Medal Play Golf Tour resumes play May 16th at the beautiful and challenging Gary Player course at the Westin Mission Hills in Rancho Mirage, CA.
Rancho Mirage, CA, April 11, 2010 --(PR.com)-- The Medal Play Golf Tour will resume play Sunday, May 16th at the beautiful and challenging Gary Player course at Westin Mission Hills in Rancho Mirage, CA. This will be the 5th event of a 10 event schedule that will finish on Sunday, September 12th with the Tour Championship at Indian Wells Golf Resort, current home of the LG Skins Game. Come play where the pro’s play.
“The players are having a blast so far this season” remarked tour director Blane Freytag. “Our goal is to provide fun, fair, competitive individual stroke play golf tournaments utilizing NET scoring (using your MPGT Tournament Handicap) to level the playing field. Everyone has an equal shot at winning in our tournaments. In fact, the average winning score of our 20 flight champions at our first 4 events was a NET 2 over par 74!”
Tournament format is individual net stroke play, with USGA rules in effect. A software program and web page tracks each player’s tour handicap to ensure participants are placed in their proper flight. Player tour handicaps will be monitored throughout the season to field the most competitive flights possible. “We have a unique anti-sandbagging system to weed out the baggers. Come play on the fairest competitive tour in the SoCal area” added Freytag.
At each event, the top golfers in all flights win Visa gift cards from the prize pool that is generated in each flight. All participants also earn points toward “Player of the Year” honors in their flight. A Fed Ex style playoff covering the final three events adds to the excitement.
Golfers may join the tour at any time for a $100 annual membership fee that is valid for an 12 months from the date of registration. Entry fees for the Medal Play Golf Tour are individually priced based on the venue and time of year. Those fees include green fees, shared use of a cart, range balls, prize pool, scoring and trophies. There will also be optional skins games and an optional par 3 cash pot at each event. Trophies will also be up for grabs for the winners of each flight. Results and points standings are posted within 72 hours at: (www.medalplaygolftour.com).
"We invite you to experience the excitement of tournament golf in a friendly and competitive atmosphere," stated Freytag. "The Medal Play Golf Tour gives the everyday player the chance to compete in events on courses that they normally wouldn't play in a competitive environment. We offer a cash referral bonus when you bring your golfing friends." Additional information can be found at www.medalplaygolftour.com or call tour director Blane Freytag at (623) 764-3522.
