Jacobson Companies Acquires Global Transportation Services, Inc. Establishes International Services Platform
Des Moines, IA, April 14, 2010 --(PR.com)-- April 7, 2010 - JHCI Holdings, Inc., parent of the Jacobson Companies, today announced its acquisition of Global Transportation Services, Inc. (Global), a Seattle-based company providing a full range of international transportation and logistics services.
This acquisition is another step for the Jacobson Companies’ in expanding its international 3PL platform and positioning the company as a true global provider of end to end supply chain solutions. Last month, Jacobson Companies announced the creation of its new International Logistics Services (ILS) group, which is leveraging the company’s leading 3PL expertise in the United States to extend its reach overseas. In conjunction with the establishment of the ILS Group, Jacobson brought in Peter Knapp, formerly of APL Logistics, to serve as President of ILS. Peter is a 26 year veteran in the 3PL and global freight forwarding arenas. Prior to APL he worked for over 14 years in DHL Exel Supply chain in various Business Development functions in Asia, Europe and Latin America.
Global Transportation Services, Inc., founded in 1985, delivers innovative, tailored solutions for moving products and information, drawing on an extensive global network that encompasses Asia, North America, South America, Europe and the Middle East.
