Top South Florida Chef is Back
Former chef of Mario the Baker, Mario’s of Boca and Mario’s East returns with Henry’s Brick Oven Pizza in West Palm Beach.
West Palm Beach, FL, April 14, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Enrico (Henry) Olmino, Jr., the former proprietor of such south Florida staples as Mario the Baker, Mario’s of Boca and Mario’s East is bringing his award winning Italian fare to West Palm Beach at Henry’s Brick Oven Pizza located at 3676 Collin Drive. Together with business partner, Mel Kantor, Henry’s Brick Oven Pizza will be offering the pizza, pasta, Italian entrees and “original” garlic rolls that have made Olmino’s cooking a long time favorite of south Floridians since 1973.
Originally from Stamford, Connecticut, Olmino learned his trade from his father, Enrico Olmino Sr., who opened the original Henry’s Pizza up north. Enrico, Sr., who emigrated with his wife, Mary, from Minturno, Italy in 1923, imparted his love for baking, cooking and fine food to his son who joined his father’s restaurant business just two years out of high school and after having received a wrestling scholarship to the University of Connecticut.
In 1973 the Olmino family moved to south Florida and opened Mario The Baker in Sunrise, which was known by locals for the daily crowds that would line up out the door. The Olmino family operated Mario the Baker until 1996.
In 1985 Henry opened the famed Mario’s of Boca with a friend. This 300 seat restaurant soon became well known all over south Florida. Henry then opened Mario’s East on Los Olas. This supper club soon became the place to eat and be seen in the midst of the Las Olas nightlife.
After a break from the food business, Henry now returns at Henry’s Brick Oven Pizza. “It’s great to be back in the kitchen bringing quality food to south Florida. For me, it’s more than just a business, it’s a family tradition,” says Olmino.
Henry’s Brick Oven Pizza is located 3676 Collin Drive in West Palm Beach. For more information, please call (561) 433-9390.
