FREENET Obtains NSP License in Malaysia

Value added benefits for businesses through FREENET network infrastructure

Petaling Jaya, Malaysia, April 16, 2010 --(PR.com)-- FREENET has obtained a Network Services Provider (NSP) license from the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) paving the way for local and international IP interconnect, transit and switching services.

“With the NSP license, FREENET will continue to enhance our existing IP network infrastructure to serve our managed network customers who depend on us to connect their application and data information to Asia Pacific, the Middle East and Africa,” said Billy Lee, the Chief Executive Officer of FREENET. He believes that the company will also start to transform two out of its three data centers in Malaysia to become one of the top preferred Asia Pacific regional data centers connecting all international Tier-1 networks in the region. As such, this will enable shorter and lower latency route to respective countries.

“I foresee that Malaysia will eventually become one of the most preferred data center destinations in the Asia Pacific region for MNCs, content providers and Telco. Strong support from the government with emphasis on the increase of data, network and telecommunication infrastructure advancements as well as stiff competition from neighbouring countries are among some of the contributing factors. The recent launching of High Speed Broadband (HSBB) is a crucial milestone for Malaysia to high speed network enabling 1 Gbps connection via fiber to consumer residence. On top of that, Malaysia has been continuously rated as one of the top 3 IT and BPO outsourcing destinations in the world”, added Billy.
