An Attorney for You Savors Role at Toyota Recall Lawsuit Conference

San Diego, CA, April 15, 2010 --(PR.com)-- The competition among attorneys was on full display at the Westin San Diego as over one hundred attorneys with pending lawsuits against the automaker Toyota gathered in a Westin hotel ballroom across the street from the federal courthouse in San Diego for the "Toyota Recall Litigation Conference."

A panel of federal judges there heard arguments about whether to consolidate the more than 100 lawsuits filed against the car maker nationally that allege Toyota is responsible for economic losses suffered by vehicle owners. The panel also made the decision on the critical question of which judges and jurisdictions would be assigned to preside over the cases. The panel ultimately sent the cases to U.S. District Judge James Selna of the Central District of California in Santa Ana. The panel appeared to have been swayed by two arguments that Toyota's lead counsel argued during the hearing: Toyota's U.S. headquarters is in nearby Torrance, California; and more lawsuits have been filed against Toyota in that district than in any other in the United States.
