Artist Miles Regis’ "Sketch Me Hollywood" Opening Reception to be Held at American Rag CIE During Miracle Mile Artwalk on 04/17/10

Los Angeles-based artist Miles Regis encourages a message of inward reflection through his outward expression captured on canvases, wearable art-inspired clothing and accessories.

Los Angeles, CA, April 16, 2010 --(PR.com)-- With “Sketch Me Hollywood”, his fourth show with American Rag CIE, Regis showcases inspired messages of positivity and the opportunity for change, while addressing cultural phenomenon and societal standards. The show consists of large painted canvases as well as wearable-art clothing, accessories and will feature live painting of a limited edition t-shirt series with the show’s theme. When asked for insight into this new collection, Regis offers, “We live in a culture where Hollywood and Fame have become the measuring stick for success. I wanted all of the paintings to bear strong messages of self-love and that acceptance should ultimately come from within.”

Regis, a native Trinidadian, has a unique perspective on Los Angeles, a place that he now calls home. Prior to embracing his art full-time, Regis was a headhunter who placed over 200 creative professionals into their dream jobs. Now, following his own dream, his self-taught style is reminiscent of master painters such as Basquiat, Pollock, and Dali. He possesses the ability to tap into the emotions of the exotic cultures of the world, contrasting his explorative imagination with of a world filled with conflicting interests. The resulting work is compelling and undeniably exciting, earning him critical acclaim for his gallery shows, a feature on CNN’s “African Voices” and from collectors such as Isaiah Washington, Ron Perlman, Nicollette Sheridan, amongst others.

“Sketch Me Hollywood” opens on April 17th, 7pm-9pm as part of the Miracle Mile Artwalk featuring music by DJ Pelau at American Rag CIE, 150 N. La Brea Ave., Los Angeles, CA 90036. Please visit: http://www.amrag.com for more details.
