Skinsight Nominated for Best Health Website in the 14th Annual Webby Awards
Fans Can Vote Online to Help Skinsight Win Internet's Top Honor
Rochester, NY, April 17, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Hailed as the "Internet's highest honor" by The New York Times, The Webby Awards is the leading international award honoring excellence on the Internet.
Skinsight, developed by the doctors and health care professionals of Logical Images, Inc., has been nominated for the Best Health Website Webby, up against the likes of industry Goliaths WebMD and MayoClinic.com. What differentiates Skinsight from other online consumer health resources is its defined focus on skin health and extensive use of medical images throughout the site. Branched from the professional tool VisualDx, Skinsight’s database includes over 2,000 medical images and information on over 180 diseases. Each disease or condition is represented by multiple photographs, helping health consumers better identify and understand health concerns. This use of images is carried over to each of the specialized search tools developed by the Skinsight team.
"Nominees like Skinsight are setting the standard for innovation and creativity on the Internet," said David-Michel Davies, executive director of the Webby Awards. "It is an incredible achievement to be selected among the best from the nearly 10,000 entries we received this year."
“This past year Skinsight underwent a major rebranding to better align, inform, and communicate with our target audience,” said Rory Burrill, Director of Consumer Health at Logical Images. “We have had an excellent response from our visitors seen in increased traffic and time spent on the site, and being nominated for a Webby just reinforces our decision and efforts taken to improve the site.”
Winners will be announced on May 4th, 2010, and honored at a star-studded ceremony in New York City on June 14th where they will have an opportunity to deliver one of The Webby Awards’ famous five-word speeches. Past Webby Award winners - and their speeches - include Al Gore ("Please don't recount this vote."), Stephen Colbert ("Me. Me. Me. Me. Me."), and Michel Gondry ("Keyboards are full of germs.").

The Webby Awards is presented by the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences, a 650-person judging academy whose members include Internet co-inventor Vinton Cerf, R/GA's CEO Bob Greenberg, The Simpsons creator Matt Groening, Arianna Huffington, and Harvey Weinstein.
