American Concrete Institute to Build Online Training Portal with Learn.com as Its Foundation
Sunrise, FL, April 17, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Learn.com®, the Knowledge PlatformTM company, announced today that the American Concrete Institute (ACI), one of the world's leading authorities on concrete technology, headquartered in Farmingham Hills, Michigan, selected the company’s knowledge portal to deliver web-based training (WBT) and educational programs to its 20,000 global society members.
Utilizing Web-based Training (WBT) and a Learning Management System (LMS) provided by Learn.com, ACI will deliver e-learning to both members and nonmembers and ultimately realize higher ROI by offering another mode of delivery for its educational products in addition to its instructor-led training (ILT) seminars and documents. Learn.com will enable the organization to reach a broader audience and reduce the travel costs and expenses associated with classroom training.
“With Learn.com, we can make educational material available that can be accessed anytime, anywhere – on-demand,” said Mike Tholen, Ph.D., P.E., Managing Director, Professional Development at ACI. “With the flexibility that Learn.com offers, we can present live or recorded seminars online, update and add courses and combine text and photos, creating state-of-the art content on concrete technology.”
About the American Concrete Institute
The American Concrete Institute (ACI), a nonprofit technical and educational society organized in 1904, is a forum for the discussion of all concrete-related matters and the development of solutions to problems. ACI conducts this forum through conventions and meetings; the ACI Structural Journal, the ACI Materials Journal, Concrete International, and technical publications; chapter activities; and technical committee work. As its chartered objective states, its purpose is "to provide a comradeship in finding the best ways to do concrete work of all kinds and in spreading that knowledge." ACI publishes information on concrete and its applications, conducts educational seminars, provides a standard certification program for the industry, provides local forums for discussion through the Chapter program, and encourages student involvement in the concrete field. Committee members involved with these activities meet at bi-annual conventions. It currently has 98 chapters and 20,000 members spanning 108 countries.
