Access Hosts Companywide Shred Day to Promote Greener Records Management

Earth Day document destruction event scheduled to demonstrate practices that promote both data privacy and a greener environment

Pleasanton, CA, April 18, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Access Information Management, leading provider of records management storage and destruction services for hardcopy and electronic records will host a companywide shred event on Earth Day, April 22, 2010. The event brings a day-long, no-cost, eco-friendly document shredding opportunity to communities in Access service areas throughout the nation.

Access business practices support sound records and information management (RIM) and are environmentally friendly. As part of a thriving, secure destruction service offering, Access shreds thousands of tons of paper, e-waste and products each year, protecting sensitive personal and corporate data for thousands of clients. Following the destruction of old records, the resulting matter is recycled and used to make products such as cardboard, paper towels and tissue.

“We are proud to offer this document destruction event on Earth Day to showcase our commitment to eco-friendly RIM,” said Rob Alston, President, Operations and Business Development, Access Information Management. “Identity theft is on the rise and our country’s landfills are filling up at an astounding rate. Access’ secure document destruction programs provide positive solutions to both problems – protecting the data privacy of individuals and organizations and promoting a greener environment.”

As part of a commitment to a clean environment, business practices are in place throughout Access to reduce waste and toxins, reuse materials and recycle whenever possible. Greener Access business practices include the use of formaldehyde-free shred bins and consoles, monitoring delivery vehicle fuel efficiency and the use of electricity in record centers, the use of reusable file delivery pouches instead of plastic bags, reusable sport bottles instead of paper cups for team members at branch locations and recycling all destroyed materials to name a few.

Access shred events are scheduled on Thursday, April 22, 2010, from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM local time at locations across the Unites States, including: Northern and Southern California, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Oregon and Wisconsin. Participants can bring up to five bankers boxes of old records to a local Access branch to be shredded free of charge. A fee will apply to items in excess of the five box limit. A complete list of shred event locations is available online at: http://accesscorp.com/shred-event.htm.
