Aridhio Technologies Announces the Fire Extinguisher Inspection App for the Android Smartphone

Aridhio Technologies announced an Android app for modernizing fire extinguisher inspection and maintenance records. Electronic management of safety data provides the most efficient means of maintaining records by eliminating paper or special tagging.

Bolingbrook, IL, April 20, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Aridhio Technologies announced an app for smartphones based on Google's Android platform that modernizes how fire extinguisher inspection and maintenance records are managed. The National Fire Protection Agency (NFPA) mandates that every portable fire extinguisher in a public facility be inspected monthly and serviced annually.

The Fire Extinguisher Inspection app assists a building's fire safety personnel in performing inspections and maintaining their records. Portable fire extinguishers are scanned using the Android’s barcode reading capabilities. Managing safety records is modernized through electronic record keeping.

The NFPA allows four different options for maintaining records for manual inspections:

1. fire extinguisher tags, which are attached to the unit, or
2. labels, which are also attached to the fire extinguisher, or
3. an inspection checklist maintained on file, or
4. by an electronic method, (what the Fire Extinguisher Inspection software delivers)

Electronic management provides the most efficient means of tracking inspections by eliminating all paper or special tagging. Inventory and inspection history can be monitored by facility or safety managers without retrieving paper files or physically walking to each unit. Units are tracked by a serial number or other barcoded identifier.

The application can maintain inspection records for multiple buildings. An NFPA compliant monthly fire extinguisher inspection checklist is included. Also supported is annual and multi-year maintenance record keeping which makes the app also relevant to technicians trained to service fire extinguishers and who will have many customers.

The “Fire Extinguisher Inspection” app is available in the Android marketplace for $14.99. An option for web-based management of records is also available on a subscription basis. Web-based management allows multiple inspectors to synch facility and extinguisher inventory information between devices. Building and safety managers can securely generate reports of historical inspection data from a standard web-browser in a myriad of formats including PDF, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word/RTF, HTML, plain text or in CSV format for import into a database or other application.

“While the search for the killer app is an interesting and somewhat romantic endeavor, we seek to leverage advances in smartphone technologies to help people think differently about how they accomplish their existing everyday tasks,” explained Aridhio Technologies’ president, Antonio Ransom. Antonio has been at the forefront of mobility since 1987. He was a developer at Bells Labs on the first generation cellular systems, a lead designer and architect for some of the most widely deployed 3G systems in the world, and an architect for pre-commercial 4G systems.
