USAID Holds a Hospitality and Guest Courtesy Course at Le Meridien Amman
Amman, Jordan, April 21, 2010 --(PR.com)-- The USAID/Jordan Tourism Development Project (Siyaha) II held a one-day intensive Hospitality and Guest Courtesy course at Le Meridien Amman, a subsidiary of Starwood Hotels & Resorts, which combined theoretical aspects with the practical application of hospitality in order to highlight the advantages of basic self-presentation and social interaction.
Mr. Tareq Derbas, Le Meridien Amman’s General Manager commented on this participation by saying: “It is vital for us to build a solid pyramid at our hotel, based on clarity in the communication channels, excellence in hospitality service, along with strong social skills and positive attitudes in order to achieve guest courtesy. This is the main reason behind nominating our associates to participate in this course.”
”Small improvements to how people working in the hospitality and tourism sectors interact with visitors and tourists can make a huge difference to the tourist experience,” explained Mr. Ibrahim Osta, USAID/Siyaha Chief of Party. “Through this course, and several others, we hope to help Jordanians reflect the warm hospitality that they are so renowned for at every possible opportunity so that tourists go home with great experiences and fond memories of their time in Jordan.”
The Hospitality and Guest Courtesy course is one of many training programs being implemented by USAID/Siyaha for tourism workers across Jordan to improve their skills and capacities. Other courses include first aid, safe food handling, English for tourism, train the trainer and many more. USAID/Siyaha has trained more than 60 people to date and is planning on offering more courses in the tourism industry in Petra and Aqaba, with a target of qualifying 600 persons in 30 different courses during 2010.
