Finite Carbon Submits to the Climate Action Reserve an Improved Forest Management Project for Groton Land Company, in South Carolina
Forest Carbon Development Company Finite Carbon has submitted an improved forest management project for South Carolina's Groton Land Company for a listing under the Climate Action Reserve's protocols. The project is expected to generate more than 500,000 carbon offsets during the next 100 years.
Wayne, PA, April 22, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Finitie Carbon Corporation, the forest carbon development company that provides a single-source solution for creating and monetizing carbon credits, has submitted an Improved Forest Management project for Groton Land Company, in South Carolina, for listing under the Climate Action Reserve’s (CAR) updated Forest Project Protocol.
The project for the privately owned Groton Land Company, in Luray, S.C., involves a 4,700-acre mature forest that is part of the 23,000-acre Groton Plantation, which has a conservation easement. Once registered and approved by CAR, it will be expected to generate more than 500,000 carbon offsets during the next 100 years.
Milliken Forestry Company, a land management specialist working with landowners for more than half a century, will provide field services for the project. Based in Columbia, S.C., Milliken currently provides long-term forest management consulting and services on more than 600,000 acres in South Carolina, North Carolina and Georgia.
While landowners in California have been eligible to receive carbon offsets for several years, CAR only recently completed a two-year public stakeholder process that enabled other U.S. landowners to participate.
Last month an Improved Managed Forest project that Finite Carbon is conducting in Tennessee for the Lyme Brimstone Forest Company was listed by CAR; that was only the second such project outside of California and the first in the Eastern part of the country to be listed under the new protocol.
