Stellar Award Winners, The Rance Allen Group, to Perform on Mother’s Day at Faith Chapel Christian Center
Birmingham, AL, April 22, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Renowned gospel trio and Tyscot recording artists, The Rance Allen Group, will perform during Faith Chapel Christian Center’s Mother’s Day service on Sunday, May 9, 2010. This service, which begins at 10:00 a.m., will be held at The Word Dome located at 100 Lexington Street in the Wylam community of Birmingham. The public, including gospel music lovers everywhere, are invited to join them for this event.
The Rance Allen Group is a family vocal and instrumental soul ensemble from Monroe, Michigan and are considered the perfect fusion of Gospel and Soul. First recording in 1969 for the local Reflect label in their home town of Monroe, the group comprised of brothers, Rance Allen, Tom Allen, and Steve Allen, is known for such hits as “Something About the Name Jesus”, “I Belong to You”, “Smile”, and many more.

About The Rance Allen Group
The Rance Allen Group has been honored with many other awards including the McDonald’s Restaurant Corporation Golden Circle Lifetime Achievement Award for their outstanding contributions to gospel music over the years. In October, 1998 they were inducted into the Gospel Heritage Foundation, founded by Gospel Today Magazine and received the Trailblazers of Gospel Music Award presented to them by publishing giants BMI in 2005 for pioneering contemporary gospel music. Also in 2005 they were recipients of the Gospel Music Workshop of America’s (GMWA) Gospel Announcers Guild Chairman’s Choice Gospel Legends Award. For recognition as being one of the legends of contemporary gospel music, The Rance Allen Group was inducted into the International Gospel Music Hall of Fame and Museum in November, 1998 and in 2009 received the Stellar Awards’ Walgreen’s Ambassador Dr. Bobby Jones Legend Award.
In November, 2001 The Rance Allen Group signed with Tyscot Records and produced the Grammy and Stellar Award nominated hit album, “All The Way” with Chris Byrd sharing the production honors with Rance. In 2004 the Group produced their first live recording entitled “The Live Experience” which received two Stellar Award nominations. Their latest project, “Closest Friend” earned them their first Stellar Award win in 2008 as “Quartet of the Year” and first 2008 Dove Award nomination for “Traditional Gospel Album of the Year.”

Faith Chapel started in April, 1981 in Dr. Michael D. Moore's home in the Wylam community of Birmingham, Alabama. The church began with four people: Dr. Moore, his wife Kennetha, his mother, and a friend. In six months, the church grew then moved in June, 1981 to Stallworth Funeral Home. Within a year, the church re-located to the YWCA in downtown Birmingham. Today the congregation has reached over 7,000 members and is housed in the world’s largest monolithic dome. The Word Dome is located at 100 Lexington St, just blocks from the original church.
