Glenn Miller Orchestra Returns to Dover

Dover, DE, April 22, 2010 --(PR.com)-- The World Famous Glenn Miller Orchestra® is scheduled to perform in the Rollins Center® at Dover Downs Hotel & Casino on Friday, Oct. 29, 2010, at 7 p.m. Glenn Miller was among the most successful dance bandleaders in the Swing Era of the 1930s and ‘40s. Tickets go on sale April 28.

The Glenn Miller Orchestra reached enormous success in the late 1930s, scoring multiple hit records and huge box office sales. Miller’s “Chattanooga Choo-Choo” received the first Gold Record ever to be awarded and is still highly recognizable today. Other hit records include “Tuxedo Junction,” “Danny Boy,” “Skylark,” “A Sentimental Journey” and the band’s signature tune “Moonlight Serenade.”

In 1941, the band had more hit records than anyone else in the history of the recording industry, which included “A String of Pearls.” The band continues to tour worldwide and has performed under the leadership of musical director Larry O’Brien since 1988.
